The Kappa Chi Chapter Educational Foundation is the non-profit charitable arm of the fraternal chapter, which focuses on scholarship, programs and training which focus on youth development and support activities designed to support educational programs within the community. The Education Foundation supports the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. initiatives of Go-to-High School, Go-to-College, Project Alpha, community related events such as North Chicago Days and the Chapter’s tutoring/mentoring program conducted at local high schools.
Make a DonationThe operation of the Kappa Chi Lambda Education Foundation has three main pillars. Each plays a critical part in the success of the foundation.
The Educational Foundation is a 501(c) 3 IRS category classified program and reports annually to the Internal Revenue Service it financial profile via IRS Form 990. The Foundation Board of Directors is composed of a Board President, Board Treasurer and five (5) chapter directors who overwatch and direct the use of foundation funds to positively impact the edcuational goals of the Chapter.
The Foundation also annually conducts its Dr. Martin Luther King Brunch which is a major fundraising activity which generates funds for the Foundation to provide scholarships to young men and women pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities. Recently the Foundation completed its Silver Anniversary celebration of this noteworthy fraternal and communiy event.
The Foundation also provides school supplies and backpacks to disadvantage youth in the North Chicago and Waukegan communities by supporting back to school activities each school year. Youth are not only provided school related materials but they are also sensitized to the importance of embracing education as a means to future academic and economic successes.
